App Platform / Apps

Push the code. We run the app.

Connect a repo and we build, start and monitor the app on your own app server. Every version is health checked before it takes over, and you roll back with one click.

Features

Everything an app needs in production

Builds, domains, security and operations are in place from the first deploy.

GitHub and previews

Every push to the branch is deployed. Every pull request gets its own copy with its own address, deleted when it closes. GitLab and others work with a deploy key.

Zero-downtime deploys

The new version must answer the health check before traffic moves. If it fails, the old one keeps running, and you can have the error explained.

Four app types

Node.js with npm, pnpm, Yarn or Bun, static sites, anything with a Dockerfile, and workers for queues and bots with no port or address.

Domains with automatic HTTPS

Every app gets an address on gigahostapps.no right away. Your own domains get certificates that renew by themselves, and we check DNS every day.

WAF and vulnerability scanning

A web application firewall with the OWASP Core Rule Set, password and IP rules, rate limiting, and dependency scanning on every deploy.

Logs, terminal, cron and email

Live logs, a shell in the app, cron jobs in Norwegian time, alerts by email or webhook, and an SMTP relay with SPF and DKIM.

Deploy

You see every phase, and how long it took

Every deploy goes through the same steps on a separate build server, so your apps don't lose performance while a new version builds.

  • Health check before switching. Traffic only moves once the new version answers.
  • Fast or full build. A fast build reuses the build cache.
  • Back in seconds. The last five successful versions are ready.
  • Live build log, with secret values redacted.
App servers

One server, many apps, fixed limits

You buy an app server, not a slot per app. On Team and Pro you split the memory between your apps yourself.

  • A hard memory limit per app, so one app never takes memory from the others.
  • CPU is shared, and you give apps low, normal or high priority.
  • Move apps between your servers without downtime.
  • Previews use free memory, not one of the slots.
Packages

Pick a size by how many apps you have

Solo gives one app the whole server. Team and Pro have room for several apps sharing the server. Change package whenever you like.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Anything else? Send us a message and we'll get back to you.

Does my app need a Dockerfile?
No. Node.js apps and static sites are built with Railpack, which reads package.json and finds the package manager and commands by itself. If you have a Dockerfile, you can choose the Docker app type instead.
Can I store files on disk?
Every deploy starts from a clean image, so files the app writes to disk disappear on the next deploy. Store data in a database, and files in object storage.
What happens if the app uses too much memory?
The memory limit is hard. If the app goes over, it is restarted, while the other apps on the server notice nothing. The graphs show usage against the limit.
Can I use GitLab or Bitbucket?
Yes, with an SSH deploy key generated on the server. Automatic deploys on push and previews currently require GitHub.
How are app servers billed?
By the hour, and you never pay more than the monthly price. You pay for the server, not per app, and pull request previews cost nothing extra.
