The platform

Three building blocks, one panel

Apps, databases and load balancers are ordered and managed in Flux, and connected with a few clicks. The screenshots are from Flux.

Apps

From GitHub, a git URL or a zip file. We build, health check and switch to the new version without downtime.

  • Node.js, static, Dockerfile and workers
  • A preview of every pull request
  • Automatic HTTPS and a WAF in front of the app
  • Logs, terminal and cron jobs

Databases

A dedicated database server with PostgreSQL or MariaDB. We install, tune and back it up.

  • PostgreSQL 17 and 18, MariaDB 11.4 and 11.8
  • Nightly backups kept for seven days
  • Connect an app and DATABASE_URL
  • Adminer in the browser and external access over TLS

Load balancers

Distribute traffic across apps and servers from one fixed IPv4 and IPv6 address, with automatic failover.

  • Two VMs, the addresses move if one fails
  • TCP, HTTP and HTTPS with a health check per service
  • Let's Encrypt certificates or your own
  • Targets: apps, your own servers or an IP address

How it works

From repo to live in minutes

You don't need to write a Dockerfile or set up a server. The platform works out how to build and start the app, and you can override everything.

  1. 1

    Connect your code

Pick a repo and branch on GitHub, use a git URL with its own deploy key, or upload a zip file.

  2. 2

    We build and run it

The new version starts next to the old one, and traffic only moves once the health check is green.

  3. 3

    Grow when you need to

Put more apps on the same server, move to a bigger package, and put a load balancer in front.

Pricing

You pay for servers, not per app

Everything is billed by the hour, and you never pay more than the monthly price. Pull request previews cost nothing extra.

All prices are excl. VAT.

Security and operations

Built so that one app can never reach another customer's

Dedicated virtual machine

Every app, database and load balancer server is your own VM on a private network, with the firewall in the hypervisor.

Our own datacenters in Norway

The platform runs on our own hardware in our datacenters. Your data never leaves the country.

Norwegian support

Built and run by the same people you talk to when you contact us.

API and Flux

Everything in Flux is also in the Gigahost API, so you can automate setup and deploys.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Anything else? Send us a message and we'll get back to you.

How is this different from a virtual server?
On a virtual server you run everything yourself: operating system, updates, web server, certificates and backups. On App Platform we take care of that, and you only think about the code. You don't get root access to the server, but you do get a terminal inside the app.
How do I join the beta?
Send us a message with a little about what you want to run, and we'll enable App Platform for your account in Flux.
How is App Platform billed?
You pay for app servers, database servers and load balancers, not per app or per request. Everything is billed by the hour, and you never pay more than the monthly price.
Where does the platform run?
In our own datacenters in Norway, on our own hardware. Apps, databases and backups all stay in the country.
Does my app need a Dockerfile?
No. Node.js apps and static sites are built with Railpack, which finds the package manager and commands by itself. If you have a Dockerfile, you can choose the Docker app type instead.
Can the load balancer send traffic to servers outside the platform?
Yes. A target can be an app, one of your servers at Gigahost or any public IP address.
